Overview
This online workshop will share good practice examples of how adult social care services can help people get well and stay well. We will discuss how good social care will always take steps to prevent ill health and accidents, avoiding the need for unnecessary health treatments or increased social care needs.
At the workshop, you will:
- hear from a range of examples of preventative social care
- become more familiar with 大象传媒's prevention support
- consider and discuss the preventive aspects of your services and whether these can be expanded further or protected
- establish actions to take and build contacts to work with.
Key speakers
Marie Lovell, National Practice Innovation Lead, 大象传媒, will chair the workshop.
You will also hear from others who can help you recognise and build on the preventive aspects of your work, including:
- Zoe Fry from and their mission to improve the quality of life for people living, visiting, and working in care homes, while also reducing the risk of infections and avoiding hospital admissions.
- Rachel Wright from ‘ on the importance of postural positioning in preventing pressure ulcers, pain, infection, and breathing and eating difficulties.
- Ruth French and Richard Ayres from the , who have been working with their staff, residents and their families to offer the choice of decaffeinated hot drinks in their care homes.
- Andy Walker an Individual Employer from . Andy’s team of personal assistants give him a sense of purpose and support which prevents deterioration of his mental ill health, as well as day to day physical care to prevent physical illnesses.
