The RERG welcomes ´óÏó´«Ã½ undertaking the Social Care Workforce Race Equality Standard within their own organisation, including engaging their staff teams in discussions and seeking advice and support from the RERG on the findings. It is imperative for social care organisations and wider society to interrogate, measure and implement change against how they themselves are doing to achieve race equity and illustrate their commitment to anti-racist practice.

The SC-WRES metrics have been carefully chosen to reveal a clear picture of race (in)equity. A key part of the SC-WRES is establishing ownership and accountability for workforce race equality and building staff trust. The SC-WRES brings attention to workforce race equality as a foundational step upon which other equalities work can build. We want to share our own journey and reflections towards racial equality in ´óÏó´«Ã½, as many other colleagues and organisations in social care are doing through the SC-WRES. It is only through having and sharing the data, accessing the support, and having honest and brave conversations can we make sure that we have a society and an organisation that are anti-racist and inclusive. It is clear from our own data that we are not getting this right and we have work to do – we want to embed good practice within ´óÏó´«Ã½ as well as support the SC-WRES externally in social care.

We will develop and publish our action plan from the findings and use this to monitor and implement continuously improved change towards race equity.
